Christ Gantenbein
Swiss architects Emanuel Christ and Christoph Gantenbein founded their firm Christ & Gantenbein in Basel in 1998. The office’s activity extends to a broad spectrum of projects – private and public commissions, ranging from small transformations, to housing, office buildings, bridges, and urban master plans. They recently completed an extension to Basel’s Kunstmuseum, the renovation and extension of the Swiss National Museum in Zurich and are currently planning an extension to the Wallraf-Richartz-Museum & Fondation Corboud in Cologne. More built projects are to be found in Switzerland, Germany, England, China and Mexico.Parallel to the firm’s activity, Emanuel Christ and Christoph Gantenbein have been involved in academic teaching in different schools in Europe and abroad (ETH Zurich, ETH Studio Basel, HGK in Basel, Accademia di Architettura in Mendrisio, Oslo School of Architecture and Design and Harvard GSD, among other institutes), where they research architectural typologies of the urban city.Their work has been published by international magazines such as 2G, a+u, Baumeister, Mark, Architectural Review, L’Architecture d’Aujourd’hui, Domus, icon and Wallpaper*. Both are authoring a book series called “Review” (Park Books), in which they explore topics arising from their architectural work.
