Porto Academy proposes a Visiting School based on the very successful experience of the Summer School at Faculty of Architecture of the University of Porto.
Porto Academy started in 2013 to propose an alternative academic learning based on a close tuition from a very different range of ambitious architects who focus their work on practice looking forward to build their intentions.
Following invitations from institutions, friends and previous guests, we decided to move next to them, trying to settle the proximity we want to keep. We are now moving around the world closing the gap between ambitious architects and passionate students.

Porto Academy Visiting Kahn & Venturi Scott Brown will be focused on the legacy of the legendary architects Denise Scott Brown, Louis Kahn and Robert Venturi. The workshop studios and lectures will take place at the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, with some exceptions. We will also be visiting the Architectural Archives and some relevant works of Kahn & Venturi Scott Brown.

University of Pennsylvania Stuart Weitzman School of Design

One of twelve schools at the University of Pennsylvania, the Stuart Weitzman School of Design enrolls nearly 800 graduate students in 10 degree programs and 15 certificate programs in architecture, landscape architecture, city and regional planning, historic preservation, and fine arts. Tracing its origins to architectural drawing courses offered in 1869, the Weitzman School has educated some of the most accomplished American architects and planners of the past 100 years, from Julian Abele to Denise Scott Brown to A. Eugene Kohn, Terry Farrell, Stephen Kieran, and James Timberlake. Among the pathbreaking figures in art and design who have taught at Weitzman are Louis I. Kahn, Ian L. McHarg, Lewis Mumford, Terry Adkins, Thom Mayne, and Wolf Prix.
Today, the Weitzman School prepares students to address complex sociocultural and environmental issues through thoughtful inquiry, creative expression, and innovation. Weitzman students also enjoy access to the abundant cultural attractions and natural resources of one of America’s truly iconic cities. Philadelphia is a physical manifestation of the principles of freedom and tolerance upon which the United States was founded. From its storied public squares and parks to its beloved BYO restaurants and 3,000 outdoor murals, the city invites exploration on foot or two wheels.
