Following the successful experience of the Summer School in Porto and the Visiting programs in Mexico, France, Sweden and Switzerland, Porto Academy aims now to a new Visiting School entitled Visiting Barcelona that will take place from 15th to the 22nd July 2024 .
Barcelona is definitely an important architecture destination. Its historical legacy on the architecture scene is highly relevant due to the presence of iconic buildings and authors in the city.
The Architecture School La Salle and Porto Academy share the common ground of interest and passion for the discipline of architecture. This is reflected by the quality of the different guest tutors who are recognized by their work in the field of education and practice. But also for the students or practitioners who are also coming from a wide range of origins turning this into an international and multicultural experience of learning.

Arquitectura-G

Arquitectura-G is a young architectural studio based in Barcelona run by Jonathan Arnabat, Jordi Ayala-Bril, Aitor Fuentes, Igor Urdampilleta that began its professional career in the midst of the economic crisis, when public architecture competitions in Spain were paralyzed and the private initiative for housing construction was frozen.
Their first works were apartment renovations in Barcelona, the few opportunities that the market offered at the time, but for a few years they have begun to build new buildings, such as the Luz house, for which they received the Mies van der Rohe Award for Emerging Architecture in 2015. His work moves between references to the local architecture of the 1970s and 80s and a new version of hedonistic Mediterranean architecture. ~
In addition to their works around Barcelona, they have also built four stores for the fashion brand Acne (Nagoya, Stockholm, New York and Paris) and are currently working on a residential project in Portugal.

Flores Prats

Established in 1998 by Ricardo Flores and Eva Prats, Flores & Prats combine design and constructive practice with intense academic activity. After their experience at Enric Miralles’ studio, Ricardo Flores and Eva Prats developed a career where research is always linked to the responsibility to make and build, giving importance to the possibilities of public interpretations and critical views that the built work reveals as part of this research process.
Their projects, most of which are the result of open competitions, have investigated fields such as rehabilitation and reuse of abandoned or ruined constructions, social housing and its capacity to build community, or urban public spaces with neighbourhood participation. The office has also developed mobile or portable projects, has experimented with the use of film to document architecture, and with menus of edible architecture such as those developed for the exhibitions of its work in Barcelona and Copenhagen.

Fondamenta

Milan-based FONDAMENTA was founded by Francesca Gagliardi and Federico Rossi. Strong is the belief in research and experimentation applied to construction where building is the end to which architecture must strive to become itself and technology the tool used to reach this result.
FONDAMENTA questions conventions and supports contradictions. Fascination for structure and freedom from dogma represent the premises for the research; Structure traces space, organizes the program and generates the building.
Governance of architecture through technology is believed to be the key to the creation of an organism.Technology drives efficiency, precision and control through the entire process. In 2019 the studio completed its first new building, the Winery of Monforte d’Alba, and is currently dealing with different scale projects, starting from a domestic infrastructure masterplan in Val di Noto, Sicily. Surrealism reigns supreme. FONDAMENTA believes in synergies between professional and academic worlds.
Invited to lecture and publish on several international institutions and platforms, starting from September 2022 FONDAMENTA will be teaching as academic guest at ETH – Zürich.

Plan Común

Founded in 2012, Plan Común provides strategies to maximize and reinforce public and collective space -understood as a key aspect of architecture, regardless of its scale or program- by means of simple architecture tools, through a critical discourse, research, design and building. We are convinced that radical, basic -even silent- forms are more likely to be relevant and universal, and serve as a support for collective use and imagination.
We use a critical and strategic approach towards briefs and commissions, in order to question and transform spatial hierarchy and uses. We intend to work within an ethic of the collective aiming at relevance and usefulness for the many.

WALDRAP is a collaboration between Renate Walter and Sebastian Lippok. Its work is understood as an interpretation within the circumstances of the contemporary world manipulating with all its complexity and contradiction, its relationship between program and context as never before.
WALDRAP attempts to bring these tense relationships into a stable, resistant but also beautiful state. From its point of view, no ideal aesthetic itself exists. Rather, the attempt to produce beauty is a social aspect in the context of the interacting human.

What is a house for

Our first experience with architecture starts at home. Besides giving shelter, a house can also invite us to think about ways of living and seeing the world, both physically and philosophically.
A house has the potential to trigger emotions, awaken curiosity and nourish our creative attitudes towards life.
We ask practicing architects and theoreticians to speak about a house they know. The choice is free, it can be by another architect, or a memory from long ago but it must be a house that has influenced them.
We believe that observation and creation happen simultaneously and are attentive to this.
We are searching for inspiring ideals; examples that enrich and invite us all to go further.
We hope to grasp the many diverse ways of relating to the world through the spaces we inhabit and answer the question: what else, beyond sheer utility, can a house be for?

PANORAMAH!

With surfaces above 98% structural glass, minimalist windows are all about glazing. From an industrial point of view, more significant glass dimensions require larger tempering furnaces, smooth operability and technical performances impose precision and higher quality standards, often more demanding than defined by international glass processing norms.
To keep up with new challenges, panoramah! verticalized its industrial activity and integrated glass transformation in 2011. Continuously investing in its transformation capacity ever since, it became one of the largest glass transformers in Europe with a 9-metre furnace and the ability to process double- and triple-glazed units up to 29 sqm. This capacity has proved critical in different processes, mainly as glass progressively absorbs new functions, admits irregular and curved shapes or assumes various aesthetic requirements.
panoramah! is currently the only manufacturer of minimalist windows in the world that processes and manufactures the main components of its systems, having full control and accountability over the entire process. From design to manufacture and installation, we answer for the complete system, both glass and aluminium. We streamlined glass transformation, adaptation to the system and transportation to the job site, rendering an apparently risky and complex procedure into an everyday job.
Furthermore, with built experience in over 60 different countries and a strong network of more than 50 certified specialized partners, panoramah! is effectively present throughout the globe. Supported by our team, this network is composed by fully experienced technicians that ensure a constant presence at all stages, from glazing consulting to installation and long-term maintenance.
